Tales Of Mike – Human Masquerade Review

A Heavy/Power Metal solo artist from Germany. Tales of Mike will release his new single, “Human Masquerade”, on October 4th, 2024. A song going for more of that heavy metal sound (dropping the doom element) that would gratify Helloween and King Diamond fans.

The First Three Sins of Human Masquerade

Let’s start by discussing the first three sins of Tales Of Mike and his single, Human Masquerade

The First Sin, The Strings/Keys: Features pulsing progressive (with dark rhythm/melodious) riffs, that energize the music, while the powerful soaring solo adds an epic-depth charge to the song’s structure. The Second Sin, The Vocals: Involves heavy/power metal vocal anthem vocals, topped off with soaring screams. The Third Sin—The Percussions: Delves into the vast world of thunderous drumming to create an intense and electrifying atmosphere..

The Fourth Sin: Overall Discussion:

A heavy, powerful, energetic, and epic sensation that burns the listener’s souls…

As soon as the listener presses that play button, the listener is transported to the heavy metal world of Tales Of Mike, and his new single Human Masquerade. Human Masquerade welcomes the listener with the sound of an audience as if you are witnessing Tales of Mike, performing live, and transporting the listener on a lyrical journey about: “Unfortunately, not everything was positive while I was working on the Tribute EP. Some people changed because I was suddenly making music. People who also knew my brother. That disappointed me at first. Then I felt sorry for them because envy destroys many people. Many people don’t like it when others are happy. I see again and again that there are people who are happy when somebody makes mistakes or is unhappy” [Mike]

Human Masquerade, offers the listener something different, than Michael’s debut EP, Landscape Of Sorrow. “An EP that is dedicated to Mike’s brother, who was lost to cancer in 2010 but never forgotten”. Landscape Of Sorrow had different elements within the musical spectrum, such as heavy metal and doom metal, that touched the framework of darkwave, each of the four tracks was different in sound, composition etc.

As the song progresses, the listener will encounter this fruit of art musical performance of heavy, powerful, energetic, and epic sensation running through the music and their soul. But also going for this (more of) heavy/power metal vibe of HelloweenHammerfall and the theatrical atmosphere of Mercyful Fate/King Diamond.

However, one thing that continues from Landscape of Sorrow is the fruit of art devilmanship, which provides the listener with this burning soul sensation of powerful vocals provided by Gonzalo Civita. He hammers out these heavy and power metal anthem vocals, topped off with Rob Halford/King Diamond screams. At the same time, Michael drives and energizes the song with pulsing progressive riffs, while Henrik Schaller‘s powerful soaring solo adds an epic-depth charge to the song’s structure.

The production of the single is solid, crisp, and clear as hell – topped off with a song, instrumental, music and devilmanship composition at the same level as Landscape Of Sorrow.

If you love powerful, epic, heavy music, then Tales of Mike is for you. Simultaneously, if you found Landscape Of Sorrow entertaining and enjoyable, you will enjoy Human Masquerade.

The single comes to an end. We would like to give a shout out to Tales of Mike for allowing us to review his single, Human Masquerade. Now, we are going to conclude the review by talking about the final three sins and concluding the review.

The Last Three Sins

Let’s discuss the last three sins of Tales Of Mike and his single, Human Masquerade

The Fifth Sin, The Memorabilia:

After listening to Landscape Of Sorrow, I was impressed with the outcome of the whole EP, the composition within the instrumentation, the music scoring, and the devilmanship. A year later, Tales of Mike, delivers a new song. As mentioned before, bringing in the same devilmanship/members to create something magical, epic, powerful — something at the same level as the EP.

At the end of the day, this single got me rocking and rolling. The repeat button became my best friend, while my brain pictured this song as a King Diamond song or a tribute to King Diamond.

The Sixth Sin, The Artwork:

I admire the artwork as it captures perfectly the essence of the opening of the song and the lyrical theme.

The Seventh Sin, Disrelish:

Nothing to disrelish within the musical spectrum of Tales Of Mike and his single, Human Masquerade. Therefore, this concludes Tales Of Mike and his single, Human Masquerade review.
