The First Sin, The Strings/Keys: Features old-school anthem-driven riffs with a gritty and intense energy. The Second Sin, The Vocals: Delivers the listeners a powerful and vigorous vocal performance. The Third Sin—The Percussions: Explores a vast world of powerful drum patterns and hits, showcasing plenty of beats and fills.
The Fourth Sin: Overall Discussion:
Immortals explores transcendence and mortality themes with intense sound and DIY production.
Before delving into the article, let’s explore Grim Crypt a little further, Grim Crypt is a Brazilian solo project, led by guitarist Lucas HR. Grim Crypt released his debut album Reborn on 20th October 2023, settling for an old-school death/thrash metal sound. Reborn had a DIY production with the cheapest equipment possible, which gave it a very 80s sound. Following Reborn, Absolute was released on the 3rd of May 2024. A deep conceptual album with themes about the universe, other dimensions, the liberation of death and the limitations of flesh.
Grim Crypt brings you his newest single, Immortals, which explores a lyrical idea of a dark, ritualistic theme symbolizing a desire to transcend the limitations of the human body and soul, rejecting the suffering tied to mortality…
As soon as the play button is pressed, one is welcomed with a heart-pounding and intense sound that is complimented by a vintage vibe, encouraging you to turn up the volume and be compelled to headbang. Apart from the loud, raw and commanding sound, the audience is invited to experience a composition that shifts its mood and atmosphere to a captivating and eerie sound for a brief moment. As if your spirit is being ensnared The piece ends with a mouthwatering solo and then moves into another fierce and powerful section.
In addition to the unconventional structure and harsh vocals, the guitar playing showcases a fruit of art devilmanship. The powerful drum rhythms and vocals contribute to an overall forceful and unified sound — a sound that is produced and recorded in this DIY manner, providing the song and composition with this cherished old-school sound/atmosphere. What more could you ask for, than an artist creating everything old-school?
In general, Immortals, which lasts for four minutes, is a potent artistic creation crafted through a DIY approach, retaining a timeless appeal that will captivate fans of traditional death/thrash music. Additionally, I must mention his albums Reborn and Absolute, both of which are most certainly worth exploring.
Finally, the song fades away, to a closure. We want to give a shoutout to Grim Crypt for letting us review his single Immortals. Now, we are going to wrap up the review by discussing the final three sins and concluding the review.
The Last Three Sins
Let’s discuss the last three sins of Grim Crypt and his single, Immortals
The Fifth Sin, The Memorabilia:
I was thoroughly impressed by Grim Crypt and his single Immortals. Additionally, with his DIY recording manner (mentioned before) added a raw and authentic quality to the track, as well as the instrumental/vocal composition, devilmanship and music scoring.
For me, Immortals is a forbidden fruit of art, and I admire how Grim Crypt has managed to create such depth and vintage vibe in just four minutes.
The Sixth Sin, The Artwork:
he artwork (designed by Jules Morgado) may not be the most technically impressive, but it complements perfectly the old-school setting that Immortal is aiming for. This intentional choice really resonates with me and enhances the overall experience.
The Seventh Sin, Disrelish:
Nothing to disrelish within the musical spectrum of Grim Crypt and his single, Immortals. Therefore, this concludes Grim Crypt and his single, Immortals review.
