The Fourth Sin, Overall Discussion

As soon as the listener presses that play button, the opening piece, Enter the Gory Morgue, welcomes the listener with a horror soundscape introduction… setting up for what’s about to come. As the listener continues their sick, brutal and profound journey with the second piece, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and the remaining six pieces, where Putrid Impetus, drags their listener’s into a lyrical theme of pathology, medical, disease, and gore/splatter. These themes also reflected in their aggressive and visceral compositions.

Putrid Impetus, and their gore fest debut album, Fatal Necrotic Ecstasy, a relentless eight-track journey that spans twenty minutes. This is not for the timid; it’s more akin to a stroll through a hellish morgue than a leisurely walk in the park. The album showcases a fruit of art blend of composition and arrangement, both in its instrumentation and musicality, all executed with precision by this tightly-knit devilmanship. They offer listeners an experience that goes beyond mere chaos and brutality, incorporating technical prowess into their instrumental work. This raw energy is captured in a DIY production that the band has crafted themselves.

The production strikes a balance between perception and intensity, delivering a sound that is both heavy and unrefined, yet refined enough to showcase the musicians’ technical skills. The audio quality feels expertly crafted, ensuring that every instrument is clearly heard, with the guitars and drums standing out prominently. In terms of instrumental arrangements, the guitars unleash fast, complex riffs that are heavily down-tuned, while also shifting between moments of technical accuracy and chaotic aggression, resulting in an unyielding sonic onslaught.

The bass acts as a formidable foundation, delivering a profound and resonant layer that beautifully complements the guitars. The drums unleash an unyielding onslaught of blast beats, intricate double bass rhythms, and swift fills, creating a sound that hits like a jackhammer shattering the bones of decayed remains. Audio snippets enhance the music’s empty void, and deepen it overall impact. A dramatic contrast is introduced throughout the tracks by the vocals, which range from deep, guttural growls and monstrous roars to piercing screams.

Putrid Impetus has unleashed a whirlwind of chaos and brutality that leaves listeners feeling as if a drill has pierced their skulls. Look no farther than Putrid Impetus and their gory debut album, Fatal Necrotic Ecstasy, if you’re searching for an experience that represents this degree of unadulterated intensity!  As each track delves farther into the depths of aural mayhem, the unrelenting assault of sound is both overwhelming and thrilling, leaving you panting for air.

Fans of extreme metal will undoubtedly find themselves captivated by the visceral energy and unapologetic intensity that Putrid Impetus brings to the table.

The album concludes with the final track, Dreadful Palate. As the morgue lights grow dim, but the shadows still lurk in your nearest fear. We want to give a shoutout to Alessandro of Coldwinter, for inducing Putrid Impetus to us, and their album Fatal Necrotic Ecstasy. Now, we are going to conclude the review by talking about the final three sins and concluding the review.

The Fifth Sin, The Memorabilia

I’m not a massive fan of brutal death metal, although I do like bands, such as the early works of Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, and a few others. Putrid Impetus, in my opinion, merits a position among these heavyweights. When I’m in the appropriate frame of mind, their debut album. Fatal Necrotic Ecstasy, really speaks to me.

The Sixth Sin, The Artwork

Being a fan of gore-fests and horror films, I sincerely appreciate the album cover, but I think it could benefit from a bit more attention to detail. A touch more gore, guts, and blood would enhance it, especially since the music evokes the sensation of a deranged Dr. Satan tearing into your insides, alongside the relentless pounding of a jackhammer in your skull!
